Can you chlorinate diazepam?

The starting material for diazepam, 2-amino-5-chlorobenzophenone, is pretty cheap, but it would be better to get a more potent benzodiazepine. What would you get if you chlorinated the diazepam or the starting benzophenone with NCS or chlorine gas? Perhaps the chlorine would go to the unsubstituted phenyl group?

I have read one patent where they first prepare the benzo from 2-amino-2'-fluorobenzophenone, and then nitrate it with  HNO3 to get flunitrazepam, so maybe you can do something similar with a chlorination reaction on diazepam?

the effect of flunitrazepam is totally different. i didn't like it, slept 30 minutes later (like switching off the TV).
Effect changes when used over a longer period. If you want a really strong benzo, which will not knock you out, then go for e.g. clonazepam or oxazepam.
But it depends on the effect you want: some are used by epileptics, some to sleep, some to calm down, some to ...
